Thong Minh Trinh is a PhD candidate in Education and Berkeley Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on higher education policy and finance, particularly student financial aid and debt, college access and choice, and institutional finance. He uses quantitative and quasi-experimental methods to examine how financial policies and institutional contexts shape educational opportunities and outcomes.

His research has appeared in Higher Education, Research in Higher Education, British Educational Research Journal, and other education and policy journals. He has taught statistics, quantitative methods, and R programming at UC Berkeley and serves on the editorial boards of three higher education journals. In Fall 2026, he is an Exchange Scholar at Stanford University.
